Pobl Môn portrait exhibition – Oriel Kyffin Williams 3rd May 2025
Welcome to the online companion site for Pobl Môn, a powerful and intimate exhibition by artist Celia Hume.
Through the ancient technique of batik painting, Celia has captured the essence of individuals from Anglesey (Ynys Môn) — their stories, expressions, and the spirit of place that binds them. Each portrait is more than an image; it’s a window into a life.
Alongside each photo, you’ll find an audio interview with the person featured — honest, thoughtful conversations recorded in their own words.
In the physical exhibition, you can listen to these stories on your smartphone using QR codes placed beneath each painting.
Remember to bring your earphones if you’d like to listen during your visit.
This website offers a space to revisit the portraits, listen to the interviews at your own pace, and explore the depth behind each face.
THANKS to Derec Owen. There are three portraits of people who are no longer with us. These were painted from pictures from Derec Owen’s collection.
